the practice of becoming

we never stop becoming

How we move and care for our bodies, how we meet our fears and patterns, how we relate to ourselves and others, and how we connect with something greater are all part of the practice.

There isn't one part of us that needs exercise and another part that needs inner work. There is one person.

caring for the body

Our bodies carry us through our lives. Strength, movement, food, rest and the ways we physically care for ourselves matter. But caring for the body isn't simply about preventing illness or looking better. It is one way we participate consciously in our own lives.

meeting our inner life

We all develop patterns for navigating life. We protect ourselves. We withdraw. We control. We please. We blame. We demand. We hide. Often these reactions developed for very good reasons. But what once protected us can eventually limit us.

Becoming more conscious means learning to recognize these patterns — not so we can judge ourselves for having them, but so we have more freedom in how we respond.

living with greater truth and love

Truth without love can become harshness. Love without truth can become avoidance. Part of becoming is learning to hold both. To see ourselves more honestly while also becoming more compassionate toward what we find. To recognize our impact on other people without condemning ourselves.

something greater

For some people, spiritual life means God. For others it may mean Spirit, Life, a greater intelligence, nature, consciousness or simply the experience that we are part of something larger than ourselves. There is no belief you need to adopt here.

The invitation is simply to become curious about what gives your life meaning and what helps you feel genuinely connected — to yourself, to others and to life.

inner and outer strength

We need both.

Outer strength helps us inhabit our bodies and meet the physical demands of life. Inner strength helps us stay present when life doesn't go the way we want it to.

Together, they support something larger: a more conscious life.

why love · power · serenity?

The name comes from Pathwork, which describes love, power, and serenity as three fundamental divine qualities — or rays — that live within each of us. You don't need to believe in any particular definition of God or the divine to recognize these qualities in yourself. They are capacities we already have — and can continue to grow into.

love

Love is our capacity to open, connect and care. It includes compassion for others, but also the ability to accept ourselves honestly — including the parts we would rather not see.

Love isn't always comfortable. Sometimes love asks us to set a boundary, speak a difficult truth or let go of something we have been holding onto. Love allows us to remain connected without losing ourselves.

power

Power is our capacity to act, choose and take responsibility for our lives. Healthy power isn't control over other people. It isn't force, dominance or always getting our way.

It is the strength to stand in our own truth, make choices, take action, and recognize the part we play in creating our lives. Power allows us to say: This is my life. What will I do with it?

serenity

Serenity is our capacity to be present with life as it is. Our deepest wisdom. It doesn't mean that nothing bothers us or that difficult things stop happening.

It means developing the ability to remain grounded even when life is uncertain, painful or beyond our control. Serenity grows as we become less consumed by fighting reality and more able to meet what is actually here.

when they become separated

We need all three.

  • Love without power can become submission or self-abandonment.
  • Power without love can become control or domination.
  • And serenity without love and power can become withdrawal — a way of avoiding life rather than fully living it.

The work is not to choose among them. It is to harmonize them.

the practice of becoming

None of us lives continually in perfect love, power and serenity. We get frightened. We defend ourselves. We try to control. We withdraw. We blame. We lose our center. And then we have another opportunity to see what happened and choose again.

Through caring for our bodies, exploring our inner patterns, deepening our relationships and developing our spiritual lives, we can become increasingly able to meet life with greater truth and love.

love. power. serenity. not destinations we finally reach — qualities we practice becoming more capable of living.
