pathwork & spiritual development
what if the problem isn't just the problem?
Sometimes we know exactly what's wrong.
- We keep having the same argument.
- We choose the same kinds of relationships.
- We understand a pattern intellectually but still can't seem to change it.
- We feel anxious, angry, afraid or dissatisfied — and don't fully understand why.
- Or life may be going reasonably well, but something inside us knows there is more.
Pathwork begins with the possibility that the difficulties in our lives can become doorways to understanding ourselves more deeply.
what is pathwork?
Pathwork is a psychological, spiritual and transformational practice of self-discovery. It helps us become more conscious of the patterns, beliefs and defenses that shape our reactions to life — especially the reactions that create pain, conflict or disconnection.
Many of these patterns began early in life as ways of protecting ourselves. They may once have served us well. But we can continue repeating them long after they have stopped serving us.
Pathwork asks us to become curious about those patterns rather than simply blaming ourselves or someone else for them. As we begin to see ourselves more truthfully, we have greater freedom to choose how we respond.
Over time, the work can lead to greater connection with ourselves, with other people and with something larger than ourselves — however we understand that.

what is a pathwork helper?
A Pathwork Helper is trained to accompany and guide you in this process. JoAnn doesn't tell you who you should become or give you a formula for fixing your life. Together, you explore what is actually happening.
- What are you feeling?
- What are you afraid of?
- What are you defending against?
- Where do you repeatedly become stuck?
- What might you not yet be seeing?
The work involves learning to meet what we discover with greater truth and love.
